In 1991, Maurice Caldwell was convicted of murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. He was convicted based solely on the testimony of one witness. He was released in 2011 after the Northern California Innocence Project proved that the testimony of the one eyewitness was physically impossible to see and found two witnesses pointing to another man who then confessed to the crime.
Maurice’s story was included in the book “Pruno, Ramen, and a Side of Hope.” He has been on panels discussing the book and his wrongful conviction.
